 FIBER OPTIC CLOSURES - Cablelok Sealing, Heatshrink Sealing
HellermannTyton offers two types of methods for sealing cable entries into CableTyte fiber optic closures. The FST (Fiber Single Tray), the FRBU (Fiber Residential Business Unit) and the UFC (Universal Fiber Closure) kits are available with heatshrink sleeving or non-heatshrink sleeving (Cablelok), whereas the FML kit is available with only non-heatshrink sleeving (Cablelok).
Cablelok Sealing
Cablelok is a unique and patented non-heatshrink product used for the environmental sealing of cable entering all HellermannTyton CableTyte fiber closures. Manufactured from an external grade of flexible neoprene rubber, sealing is achieved without the use of heat and tools. An environmental seal is created by a number of internal lip seals which are compressed onto the cable during installation. The cable is simply inserted into the opened port of the closure base and then threaded through the Cablelok seal so that sufficient cable is available. The Cablelok and cable is then pulled back together through the port until the location shoulder of the Cablelok seal locks against the open end of the port. Not only does the neoprene rubber provide an excellent environmental seal, it also provides good strain relief. Installation is quick since no heat is required during the assembly process and installations can be made in hazardous environments where a flame is prohibited. Cablelok exceeds Bellcores requirement in GR-771 to withstand water resistance at 20 feet waterhead. Cablelok is supplied in the FST-C, FRBU-C, UFC-C, and FML kits. Heatshrink Sealing
The heatshrink supplied in the FST, FRBU, and UFC fiber closure kits are offered in a range of different sized adhesive lined, crosslinked polyolefin, medium wall heatshrink sleeving. The sleeves have an external coating of thermochromatic paint (which changes color when the correct temperature for shrinkage has been achieved) and an external lining of hot melt adhesive (which provides the environmental seal).
